Fort Wayne, IN – Increasing clouds Friday evening will give way to a chance of light rain late tonight into early Sunday, especially along and south of US-24.
According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a weak weather system moving through the region will bring a 20 to 40 percent chance of rain overnight, primarily impacting communities near US-24, including Fort Wayne, Huntington and Wabash. Areas farther north, including South Bend and Michigan City near I-94 and US-31, are expected to remain mainly dry.
Overnight lows will dip into the upper 20s to mid-30s, with rain most likely developing toward early Sunday morning. Motorists traveling late tonight or before sunrise Sunday should watch for wet roadways, particularly along US-24 and connecting highways such as I-69.
By Sunday afternoon, drier conditions are expected to return, with highs ranging from the low 40s to upper 50s across northern Indiana and northwest Ohio. A brief chance of early morning rain may linger in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio south of US-24 before skies gradually clear.
Unseasonably mild temperatures are forecast to continue into next week. Highs Monday are expected in the mid-40s to upper 50s, followed by increasing clouds Tuesday with temperatures climbing into the 50s again.
While no severe weather is anticipated, fluctuating temperatures and periods of light rain could create minor travel impacts during overnight and early morning hours.
