Fort Wayne, IN – A man who barricaded himself inside a Fort Wayne home Thursday night was taken into custody early Friday morning after a tense hours-long standoff, according to police.

The Fort Wayne Police Department said the incident began around 8 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2025, in the 2200 block of Broadmoor Avenue, following a reported dispute between neighbors. Officers arrived and attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle linked to the subject, who allegedly refused to pull over and led police on a brief pursuit before returning to a residence.

According to the FWPD release, the man then entered the home and barricaded himself inside. Officers made repeated attempts by phone and loudspeaker to get him to exit peacefully, but he allegedly refused.

Due to prior threats and safety concerns, the department deployed its Crisis Response Team, Emergency Services Team, and Air Support Unit around 9:50 p.m. After negotiations failed, police said chemical irritants were introduced into the home around 12:58 a.m., prompting the suspect to surrender.

No injuries were reported, and the man was taken into custody without further incident. The case remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
