Fort Wayne, IN – The Fort Wayne Police Department has introduced a new online system allowing residents to file certain non-emergency police reports without visiting a station.

According to the department, the new reporting module is designed for “some of the more common crimes where a police response is not required.” Officials say residents can now complete reports online anytime through the department’s website, fwpd.org, by selecting the “Online Reporting” option.

The department emphasized that emergencies or crimes in progress should still be reported by calling 911. The online tool is only intended for incidents that are not emergencies, where the suspect is no longer on the scene, and that occurred within city limits.

Once a report is submitted and approved by FWPD’s Records Division, an incident number will be emailed to the person filing the report. Those who do not receive confirmation promptly are advised to contact the Records Division at 260-427-1222.

Police encourage residents to provide as much detail as possible when completing online reports to ensure accuracy and faster processing.

For questions or additional assistance, the Fort Wayne Police Department can be reached at 260-427-1222.
