Fort Wayne, IN: Man Killed in Early Morning Shooting at Fairfield Ave

Fort Wayne, Indiana – A man was fatally shot early Sunday morning at a major south-side intersection, prompting an active homicide investigation and road closures.

According to the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers responded to a reported shooting at the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and West Paulding Road at approximately 4:33 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s) inside a vehicle at the intersection.

Medics were called to the scene but pronounced the man deceased shortly after arrival.

Police said it is currently unknown what led up to the shooting. Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses, surveillance video, and additional evidence. Crime scene technicians are processing the scene as part of the investigation.

Authorities reported that no suspects have been identified at this time.

The intersection of Fairfield Avenue and West Paulding Road remains closed while investigators work, and drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.

The incident is being investigated by the Fort Wayne Police Department in coordination with the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
