Fort Myers, Florida – Early morning commuters should bundle up as wind chills fall to 34 degrees between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday across parts of southwest Florida.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay Ruskin, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for Coastal Pasco, Coastal Charlotte, Inland Sarasota and Inland Lee counties. Northerly winds combined with chilly overnight temperatures will make it feel several degrees colder than the actual air temperature during the pre-dawn and early morning hours.

In Lee County, including Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, wind chills will hover in the mid-30s through mid-morning Monday. Inland Sarasota communities such as North Port could see similar readings before 9 a.m. Along the coast in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda, brisk winds off the Gulf will keep conditions cool through the morning commute. Coastal Pasco cities including Hudson and Port Richey will also wake up to biting breezes.

While not a hard freeze, the cold air can still pose a risk with prolonged outdoor exposure. Residents heading out early should wear layered clothing, including hats and gloves, and limit time outside if possible.

The advisory expires at 10 a.m. Monday, with temperatures expected to gradually rebound by late morning.
