Fort Myers, FL – The Fort Myers Police Department issued an urgent BOLO alert Saturday night after officers say a driver struck a police officer with his vehicle during a traffic stop before speeding away from the scene. The incident occurred around 7:40 p.m. near the intersection of Colonial Boulevard and Treeline Avenue, one of the city’s busiest corridors.

According to the Fort Myers Police Department, the driver — identified as Michael Tion Archibald — allegedly fled from a stop in a black 2019 Chevrolet Corvette with Florida license plate DJ78TI. Investigators say Archibald accelerated and hit one of the officers on scene before fleeing westbound.

Police report the injured officer is in stable condition, and the department shared its gratitude for the community’s support as the officer continues to recover. Officials say they remain hopeful for a full recovery and are in contact with the officer’s family.

Authorities are urging the public to immediately contact law enforcement with any information about Archibald or the vehicle. Police emphasized that anyone who sees the suspect should not approach him and should instead call 911 or submit a tip through Crime Stoppers.

The Corvette is described as black in color with noticeable performance modifications. Officers are reviewing traffic cameras and license plate reader data in an effort to track the vehicle’s direction of travel after the hit-and-run.
