Forsyth County, NC – A Walkertown man has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse following an investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) into an alleged incident involving an infant.

According to FCSO, deputies responded around 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Brenner Children’s Emergency Department in Winston-Salem after being notified of possible child abuse. Medical staff reported that the infant had sustained injuries consistent with the use of force.

Investigators later determined that the infant’s leg was seriously injured when allegedly rolled over during a diaper change earlier that morning.

Following interviews with the parents and medical professionals, investigators presented the case to the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office. As a result, Brandon Lee Straight, 27, of Walkertown, was charged with one felony count of Intentional Child Abuse Inflicting Serious Injury under NCGS 14-318.4.

Straight was brought before a Magistrate and given a $100,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 10, 2025.

Authorities say no additional information will be released regarding the juvenile victim.

“The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office takes child abuse cases seriously and are the voice for those who cannot communicate for themselves,” said Chief Deputy Henry C. Gray, Jr. “Working in partnership with the justice system and medical professionals, we can ensure swift and appropriate action is taken in situations such as this.”
