Forsyth County, GA – A local man is facing felony theft charges after investigators say he allegedly stole thousands of dollars’ worth of tools from his employer over several months.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, American BOA reported in October that multiple tools and instruments had gone missing from the business between August and October. Investigators believed the thefts were an “inside job” because the items taken were not typically accessible to the public.

Deputies say a search of online resale platforms led them to listings that matched the stolen tools, including serial numbers and identifying stickers. Detectives traced the seller account to John Douglas Jackson of Dahlonega, who authorities say was employed by American BOA at the time.

Investigators reportedly monitored Jackson’s work schedule and arrested him after his shift while he was in the company parking lot. According to the sheriff’s office, Jackson allegedly admitted to stealing from his employer and later wrote an apology letter to the company’s manager.

With a search warrant, deputies also searched Jackson’s home alongside his wife, who reportedly showed investigators where additional items that had not been sold were located. Authorities say the recovered tools and other property were confirmed to belong to American BOA.

The total value of the recovered items was estimated at approximately $5,200, according to investigators. The property was gathered and transported to the South Precinct for American BOA employees to retrieve.

Jackson was arrested on felony theft by taking charges and later released on bond. The case remains under investigation.
