Franklin, TN – Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been arrested in Tennessee, facing multiple alleged charges including DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence. Franklin Police confirmed the arrest occurred Thursday following a traffic accident.
According to authorities, Cutler allegedly rear-ended another vehicle around 5 p.m. on Bridge Street in Franklin. According to police reports when officers arrived, they reportedly noticed a strong odor of alcohol, and Cutler displayed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. He refused field sobriety tests, leading officers to obtain a blood sample at a local hospital.
The arrest affidavit alleges Cutler offered the other driver $2,000 to avoid calling police and attempted to flee. Police found a loaded pistol and rifle in his vehicle.
Cutler, 41, was charged with DUI, possession of a handgun while intoxicated, and failure to exercise due care. He was released from Williamson County Jail later that evening on a $5,000 bond.
