Fond du Lac, Wisconsin – A two-mile vehicle pursuit early Thursday morning ended with an arrest after deputies deployed a tire deflation device, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 12:17 a.m. Feb. 5 when a deputy located a vehicle matching the description of one that had recently fled from multiple City of Fond du Lac police officers. The deputy observed the vehicle enter an apartment complex and park in a stall.

As the deputy positioned the squad vehicle to initiate a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle allegedly accelerated rapidly, drove onto a snow-covered lawn within the complex, and nearly struck a parked vehicle. A pursuit was initiated shortly afterward.

Authorities said the suspect traveled from South Royal Avenue onto National Avenue, then turned westbound onto 4th Street. A second deputy successfully deployed a tire deflation device at the intersection of 4th Street and Fond du Lac Avenue.

Despite the damage, the vehicle continued onto 4th Street to Ellis Street before stopping at East 1st Street and Park Avenue. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted. The driver allegedly exited the vehicle and fled on foot eastbound on 4th Street but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

The suspect, identified as a 45-year-old Fond du Lac man, was transferred to the custody of the City of Fond du Lac Police Department at the scene. He was later booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on outstanding warrants and additional charges, including two counts of fleeing and eluding, disorderly conduct, and resisting or obstructing an officer.

The Sheriff’s Office reported the pursuit lasted approximately two miles. No injuries were reported, and authorities said no private or government property was damaged.

The incident involved assistance from the City of Fond du Lac Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the City of Fond du Lac Fire Department.

For commuters and overnight workers, the pursuit briefly crossed multiple residential and arterial streets but did not result in road closures.
