Fond du Lac County, WI – A 61-year-old Oshkosh man was killed Monday evening following a rollover crash in the Town of Waupun, prompting a temporary road closure and an ongoing sheriff’s investigation.

According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 6:50 p.m. Monday after the county communication center received a 911 call reporting a single-vehicle rollover crash on County Highway M near Amity Road.

Deputies arriving on scene found a male occupant trapped inside a vehicle that had overturned into the east ditch of CTH M. The Brandon/Fairwater Fire Department extricated the driver from the vehicle and immediately began administering medical aid.

Investigators said the vehicle had been traveling northbound on CTH M when it left the roadway just north of Amity Road, struck an embankment, and overturned before coming to rest in the ditch.

The driver was transported by Life Star Ambulance to SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac with serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, the man was pronounced deceased at the hospital, authorities said.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the crash. No other vehicles were involved.

As a result of the investigation, CTH M was closed between Amity Road and County Highway TC for approximately one hour, causing brief traffic disruptions in the area.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, and no additional details have been released at this time.
