Fond du Lac County, WI – Two teenagers were hospitalized Tuesday evening after a pickup truck collided with a farm tractor on County Highway W near Sunset Drive in the Town of Ashford, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 6:38 p.m. Tuesday after multiple 911 calls reported the crash. A southbound farm tractor pulling a corn chopper, operated by a 64-year-old Campbellsport man, was struck by a southbound pickup truck occupied by two 16-year-old males from Eden.

According to Sgt. Brandon Henning, the tractor operator was not injured. The 16-year-old pickup driver suffered serious injuries and was transported first to Froedtert Hospital West Bend and later to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. His passenger sustained minor injuries and was treated at SSM Health in Fond du Lac.

Investigators believe inadequate lighting on the tractor and attached equipment contributed to the collision. County Highway W between Sunset Drive and Meadow Road remained closed for about four hours as authorities investigated.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
