Fond du Lac, Wisconsin – A Campbellsport man is facing felony charges after allegedly fleeing deputies during a high-speed chase in Fond du Lac County.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began Monday at about 10:28 a.m. when a deputy conducting radar enforcement on County Highway V in the Town of Eden observed a southbound vehicle traveling well above the posted 55 mph speed limit.
Authorities said the deputy pulled out behind the vehicle, but the driver allegedly accelerated to speeds approaching 100 mph. The deputy activated emergency lights and a siren in an attempt to initiate a traffic stop.
Investigators say the driver failed to stop and continued south at excessive speeds, reportedly passing other vehicles in designated no-passing zones. The vehicle later turned east onto Woodland Drive before continuing south on County Highway W.
According to the sheriff’s office, the pursuit continued toward the Village of Campbellsport. The deputy ultimately decided to terminate the chase in the interest of public safety, anticipating the driver would slow down as the vehicle entered the village area.
Following the incident, deputies worked to identify the driver involved.
On Wednesday, March 12, authorities say they established probable cause and took 32-year-old Irevor J. Nolan of Campbellsport into custody.
Nolan was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of felony fleeing and eluding and felony bail jumping. Authorities said he was previously out on bond for possession of cocaine (second or subsequent offense) and possession of narcotic drugs. Officials also stated Nolan is currently on probation for fleeing and eluding.
According to investigators, the pursuit covered approximately 3.98 miles before it was discontinued.
The case remains under review by prosecutors.
One local note: incidents involving high-speed pursuits can affect commuting routes commonly used by students and young workers traveling through rural county highways.
