Omaha, NE – The National Weather Service in Omaha/Valley has issued both a Dense Fog Advisory and a Wind Advisory for eastern Nebraska and western Iowa, warning travelers of a rapidly changing weather day across the region.

The Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday, with visibility falling below one-quarter mile in several areas, including Omaha, Council Bluffs, Fremont, Blair, and Harlan. Drivers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra time for their morning commute.

Once the fog clears, a Wind Advisory will go into effect from 9 a.m. to midnight, bringing northwest winds between 25 and 35 mph, with gusts up to 55 mph expected — especially north of I-80 and into northeast Nebraska and western Iowa.

The NWS warns that gusty winds could blow around unsecured outdoor decorations, down tree limbs, and cause scattered power outages. High-profile vehicles on open highways such as I-29, I-80, and US-30 should use extreme caution due to crosswinds.

The strong winds may briefly coincide with lingering patches of light precipitation, reducing visibility even further at times.
Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, check on holiday travel plans, and monitor local forecasts for updates.
