Tallahassee, FL – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee has extended a Dense Fog Advisory for Apalachee Bay and surrounding coastal waters through 10 a.m. Thursday.

According to the NWS, fog is expected to reduce visibility to 1/4 nautical mile or less, impacting navigation from Apalachicola to the Suwannee River out to 60 nautical miles. Mariners are urged to proceed with caution, use fog signals, and keep all running lights on.

The advisory states that while some clearing may occur during the daytime, dense fog will likely redevelop overnight, increasing risks for vessels operating offshore. Boaters are advised to use radar and compasses as primary navigation tools in low visibility conditions.

The NWS warns that reduced visibility could create hazardous conditions for maritime traffic. Anyone planning to be on the water should check for updated forecasts before departing.
