TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Unseasonably high temperatures continue to grip Florida’s Big Bend region today, with afternoon highs expected in the upper 80s to low 90s across the area. The persistent heat, combined with clear skies, raises the risk of high-temperature records falling in some locations. Residents should take precautions to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure during peak afternoon heat.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Tallahassee, no rain is expected across the region today, with dry conditions persisting through midweek. Cities across the Panhandle, including Tallahassee, Marianna, and Panama City, will all see sunny skies and daytime highs close to or exceeding 90 degrees. Motorists are advised to watch for potential glare on roadways, particularly around heavily traveled routes like U.S. Highway 90, as sun exposure increases visibility challenges during peak daylight hours.

Looking ahead, forecasters predict continued warmth into the workweek, with slight cooling by Tuesday. Monday’s forecast anticipates a high near 84, with an east-northeast wind around 5 mph, providing some mild relief. By Wednesday, temperatures will hover in the mid-80s before leveling out around the low 80s by Thursday. Nighttime temperatures will remain mild, dipping to the low-to-mid 60s each night.

Despite the warm, dry weather, humidity levels will be slightly reduced, thanks to calmer winds. However, the extended dry period may heighten fire risks across northern Florida. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and report any signs of fire to local authorities. For those planning outdoor activities, early morning or late evening hours are advisable to avoid the peak heat of the day.
