Tampa, Fla. – Unseasonably warm and dry weather will settle over the Tampa Bay region this weekend, with inland highs surging into the mid-90s and little chance of rain through Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, temperatures across west-central Florida will run 3 to 5 degrees above normal for mid-May. Inland areas like Lakeland and Plant City could hit 97°F each afternoon, while coastal cities from Clearwater to St. Petersburg will hover in the upper 80s to low 90s.

The weekend outlook shows clear skies and overnight lows ranging from 66°F to 77°F. With no significant rain chances, outdoor plans remain uninterrupted—but residents are urged to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activity during peak heat hours, especially in areas without shade or cooling.

This stretch of heat marks one of the warmest weekends so far this spring and may signal an early push toward summer patterns. No weather alerts are currently in effect, but conditions will be monitored for heat advisories if temperatures continue climbing.

Another update is expected by early Monday as models evaluate next week’s rain chances.
