Jacksonville, Florida – Thunderstorms are expected to move across Jacksonville by late morning Saturday, bringing heavy rain, lightning, and intense afternoon heat.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, with storm activity continuing into the evening. Winds from the southwest at 6 to 8 mph will push temperatures to 94°F, and the heat index may climb above 100°F. There’s a 60% chance of precipitation, with locally higher amounts in thunderstorms.

Drivers should avoid unnecessary travel on I-95 and U.S. 17 between noon and 8 p.m., when downpours may reduce visibility and ponding could develop on roads. Outdoor plans, including beach outings and yardwork, may be disrupted as the risk of lightning and sudden storms grows through the afternoon.

Sunday will bring a near-repeat with another round of showers and storms likely after 11 a.m. and a high near 93°F. Nighttime conditions will remain muggy, with lows in the mid-70s.

By Monday, storms may start as early as 2 p.m. and persist into the evening. The wet pattern is expected to linger into early next week, with daily rain chances around 60% through Tuesday.

Rain-soaked roads and recurring storms could lead to flash flood advisories. Stay weather-aware and monitor alerts from the NWS Jacksonville office.
