Tallahassee, Florida – A stormy start to Father’s Day weekend is brewing in North Florida, as widespread thunderstorms are set to return Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, an 80% chance of storms will develop after 2 p.m. Saturday, bringing heavy rain and frequent lightning. Motorists along I-10 and US-319 should anticipate reduced visibility and slick roads through early evening. New rainfall totals could reach up to an inch in some areas, particularly where storms train over the same spots.

Saturday night will see a brief lull, but the risk picks back up Sunday with a 70% chance of afternoon storms and temperatures nearing 89°F. Father’s Day plans may need to move indoors as scattered showers and lightning persist well into the evening.

Localized flooding, brief gusty winds, and minor power outages are possible across Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties. Residents are encouraged to secure loose outdoor items and delay unnecessary travel during storm windows.

The wet pattern continues Monday, with another 60% storm chance and highs in the low 90s. While storm chances taper slightly Tuesday and Wednesday, the atmosphere stays unstable, keeping daily rain risks active through midweek.

Warnings remain possible each afternoon through Tuesday. Check back daily for updated advisories.
