Melbourne, FL – East-Central Florida faces cold winds, high surf, and dangerous rip currents through Thursday. Wind chills in the 20s and 30s are expected early Thursday near I-4 and northward. Coastal areas will continue to experience 6-10 foot waves, prompting high surf advisories through the evening.

According to the National Weather Service, a Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday for areas near and north of Orlando. Residents are urged to dress warmly and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure. Strong coastal winds reaching up to 40 mph are expected to create hazardous boating conditions. A Small Craft Advisory is active, with waves reaching up to 14 feet in the Gulf Stream.

High surf and rip currents will make swimming dangerous along the coast, especially near Daytona Beach and Melbourne. The National Weather Service advises residents to avoid entering the water and to heed local lifeguard warnings.

Rain will linger into Thursday morning but is expected to diminish by the afternoon. Skies will gradually clear heading into Friday, with temperatures climbing into the upper 50s. The weekend promises sunny skies and mild conditions, with highs near 62 degrees on Saturday.

Drivers should exercise caution on slick roads early Thursday and secure loose outdoor objects to prevent wind damage. For boaters, conditions will remain rough through the weekend, so planning alternative activities is recommended.

Stay tuned for updates and keep safety a top priority as these weather patterns develop.
