Tampa, Florida – Tampa residents can expect triple-digit heat index values and a rising chance of afternoon thunderstorms through midweek, creating a volatile mix of summer heat and flash flood potential. Highs in the mid-90s paired with humidity will push the heat index near 105° through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and storms will begin forming after 2 p.m. each day, especially Monday through Wednesday. Rain chances climb as high as 70% by midweek, with storm cells capable of producing heavy downpours and brief gusty winds. Light winds from the southwest may offer little relief.

Localized flooding remains possible in low-lying areas and along streets prone to poor drainage, particularly during the evening commute. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, stay hydrated, and monitor weather alerts for thunderstorm warnings.

The active pattern won’t fully break until late Thursday, but even then, the heat remains intense. More scattered storms could return next weekend.

Five Day Forecast for Tampa, Florida:

  • Monday: High 96°F, PM storms likely, heat index up to 105°
  • Tuesday: High 96°F, 60% chance of storms, muggy and hot
  • Wednesday: High 94°F, scattered storms likely, heat index near 100°
  • Thursday: High 95°F, isolated storms, slightly drier air
