Punta Gorda, FL – Punta Gorda set a new daily rainfall record on Wednesday, with 2.13 inches of rain. This surpassed the previous record of 1.67 inches, set in 1999. The heavy rainfall resulted from a westerly flow that is expected to persist, bringing more showers and thunderstorms to the region.

According to the National Weather Service, residents should prepare for additional rain through the weekend. Thursday’s forecast predicts an 80% chance of rain, with temperatures reaching a high of 86°F. Friday’s outlook is slightly better, with a 45% chance of showers and a high of 89°F.

The weekend is expected to remain unsettled, with a 40% chance of rain on both Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will climb into the low 90s, making conditions humid and uncomfortable.

As we move into next week, Monday will continue the pattern with a 45% chance of rain and a high of 90°F. By Tuesday, skies are expected to clear, offering some respite from the rain, with temperatures reaching around 90°F.
