TAMPA, Fla. – The sunshine that’s kept Tampa Bay in summer mode is about to take a fall turn. A sweeping cold front moving across the Gulf will drop temperatures sharply to start the week, bringing the area’s first true hint of late-autumn air by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay–Ruskin, highs will climb into the low 80s again Sunday before the front pushes through Sunday night. A few isolated thunderstorms could pop up along the boundary, especially north of I-4 and west of I-75. Most of the rain will move quickly east, replaced by clearing skies and a fresh northwest breeze by sunrise Monday.

The change will be immediate. Monday’s highs will top out around 66 degrees, nearly 20 degrees cooler than Sunday. Winds will gust up to 25 mph, giving the day a crisp, breezy feel more typical of late November than early fall. Lows Monday night will dip into the upper 30s inland and low 40s near the bay—possibly the coolest air Tampa has seen since spring.

Veterans Day will dawn bright but brisk, with highs near 62 and a light northeasterly breeze. Perfect weather for ceremonies, morning walks, or early holiday decorating. By midweek, sunshine and gentle warming will return, but the pattern signals a broader national shift as Arctic air continues pressing south through the Plains and Southeast. For now, West Florida’s story is simple: one last summer weekend, then the cool-down Floridians have been waiting for.
