Florida – Waves are already churning along the Jacksonville shoreline, and a dangerous rip current risk is building right now as beach conditions turn hazardous for swimmers.

According to the National Weather Service, a rip current statement remains in effect through this evening, with the highest risk along Atlantic beaches in Duval and surrounding counties. Even experienced swimmers could be pulled away from shore quickly.

Inland, Jacksonville warms to around 76°F under mostly sunny skies, but breezy conditions develop through the afternoon. Winds shifting onshore will enhance surf and increase the risk along popular spots like Jacksonville Beach and Neptune Beach. If heading out, stay near lifeguards and avoid entering rough surf.

By Tuesday, temperatures climb near 79°F with patchy fog early, then partial clearing. A slight chance of showers develops by late morning, with brief downpours possible. Roads like I-295 and Beach Boulevard could see quick slick spots during passing showers.

Midweek brings a more typical spring setup. Wednesday reaches near 80°F with a chance of afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Lightning becomes the primary concern for outdoor plans.

By Thursday, highs push into the low 80s with only a slight chance of showers, keeping conditions warm and mostly favorable.

Looking ahead, early April continues the warm trend with periodic storm chances. Beachgoers should stay alert as rip current risks can return quickly.
