Florida – Waves roll in under a warm March sun, but the real danger sits beneath the surface along Miami’s beaches this morning. A high risk of rip currents is in effect, and swimmers could be pulled away from shore within seconds.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Rip Current Statement remains in effect through Wednesday evening for coastal Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Dangerous rip currents are expected along Atlantic-facing beaches. Even strong swimmers can be swept into deeper water.

If you head to South Beach or Haulover Park today, swim near a lifeguard. Never fight the current. Float, then swim parallel to shore until you escape the pull. Face the beach and signal for help if needed.

Air temperatures feel summerlike already. Miami starts the morning near 74 degrees with a few clouds. Highs reach 78 today under mostly sunny skies. A brief, 20 percent chance of a shower develops later this afternoon, but most areas stay dry.

Midweek holds near 79 degrees with scattered showers possible. Thursday and Friday continue the warm pattern with highs around 79 and a few spotty storms. The weekend keeps temperatures near 80, with isolated showers at times.

Clocks spring ahead at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8. Longer evenings arrive just as spring warmth settles across South Florida.

The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures into early next week, with highs pushing the low 80s.
