Miami, Florida – Holiday weekend plans across South Florida may be interrupted by a growing risk of thunderstorms beginning Saturday, with a 50% chance of rain lingering through Memorial Day.
According to the National Weather Service, storm activity in Miami is expected to begin after 11 a.m. Saturday, bringing isolated downpours and brief gusty winds. Travel along U.S. 1, I-95, and other local roadways may be slowed by sudden rainfall or ponding. Rainfall amounts could reach three-quarters of an inch in some areas. Outdoor gatherings should be moved indoors or covered as a precaution.
Saturday’s high will reach 86°F under mostly sunny skies, but rising humidity will push heat index values closer to the low 90s. Winds will remain steady out of the southeast at 6 to 9 mph. Overnight, storms could persist into early Sunday with lower but still notable rain chances of 20–30%.
On Sunday, storm chances climb again to 40%, especially after 11 a.m., with similar warm, muggy conditions. Memorial Day will mirror Saturday’s setup — a 50% thunderstorm chance and highs near 86°F — and wet conditions may return Monday night.
Extended 5-Day Outlook:
- Tuesday: 30% chance of afternoon storms, high near 87°F.
- Wednesday: Drier, with just a 20% chance of storms. High of 86°F.
- Thursday: Rain returns, 50% chance of storms, high of 86°F.
Plan ahead for changing weather. Storm risks may increase, and further weather alerts are possible through early next week.
