Orlando, Florida – Thunderstorms could drench parts of Central Florida starting early Thursday afternoon, with Orlando facing a heightened risk of downpours through the July 4th weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 2 p.m. Thursday, with an 80% chance of rain and isolated lightning risks through the evening. South-southwest winds may reach 10 mph, increasing potential hazards along I-4 and other busy corridors during the afternoon commute and early travel rush for Independence Day.

Friday and Independence Day itself bring no break from the rain. Storms could develop as early as 8 a.m. Friday and persist through evening fireworks shows. Travel across Orange and Seminole counties may be delayed due to brief but intense downpours. Anyone planning outdoor celebrations should have backup shelter and avoid flooded intersections.

Saturday continues the wet trend, with rain chances near 80% during the day and evening. On Sunday, storm activity continues, especially after 2 p.m. West winds of 5–10 mph and muggy highs near 89°F could make conditions feel even stickier.

The pattern holds into Monday, when isolated thunderstorms return and highs reach 90°F. Tuesday and Wednesday offer a modest break, with lower rain chances (60%) and sun peeking through for brief stretches.

⚠️ Residents should secure outdoor items, stay weather-aware during peak travel hours, and monitor NWS alerts for updates throughout the weekend.
