Miami, Florida – Storms return to South Florida Friday with a weekend of soaking rain and thunder ahead — and an early taste of summer heat by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms are expected in the Miami area by mid-afternoon Friday, with rain chances climbing to 70% by Saturday. Residents should prepare for downpours and possible localized flooding, especially along I-95 and US-1, where poor drainage can quickly create hazardous driving conditions.

Rain will develop after 11 a.m. Friday, followed by a likely storm window from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Light winds from the south may keep humidity high throughout the day, with a high temperature near 88°F. By Friday night, more showers are likely, especially after 2 a.m. into early Saturday morning.

Saturday continues the unsettled trend, with thunderstorms likely from midday through late evening. Outdoor events could be disrupted, and motorists should allow extra time due to wet roadways and slick surfaces.

Sunday remains stormy, though slightly drier, with scattered storms likely in the afternoon and evening. Daytime highs will hover near 87°F under partly cloudy skies.

By Monday, summer heat builds in, with highs pushing toward 90°F under partly sunny skies. Afternoon thunderstorms will again be possible.

Five-Day Miami Forecast:

  • Friday: High 88°F, p.m. storms likely
  • Saturday: 70% chance of storms, high near 87°F
  • Sunday: Scattered storms, high near 87°F
  • Monday: 90°F and muggy, possible late-day storms
