Orlando, Florida – Summer heat and storm chances return to Central Florida this weekend, threatening Memorial Day travel and outdoor plans across the region.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected after 2 p.m. Saturday, with highs near 94°F. Winds from the south around 5 mph will offer little relief. Isolated storms could bring heavy rain and lightning, especially along I-4 and throughout Orange and Seminole counties.

Saturday night will be mostly clear, but Sunday brings another round of afternoon storms and highs near 93°F. The weather pattern continues into Memorial Day. Expect 50% rain chances after 2 p.m. Monday, along with humid conditions and a high of 91°F—classic Florida summer weather. Those heading to Lake Eola or local beaches should monitor skies and plan for pop-up storms.

By Monday night, the chance of thunderstorms increases to 50% and continues Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, keeping temperatures in the low 90s and humidity levels high. Winds shift southwest through midweek, sustaining the storm cycle.

Drivers should avoid flooded roads and watch for sudden lightning during outdoor events. Residents are urged to charge devices, limit time in the heat, and reschedule lawn work or grilling to early hours.

The National Weather Service will issue updates as storm coverage develops. Weather alerts remain possible through Wednesday, with the next system set to bring more afternoon storms.

Stay weather-aware as summer conditions build through the holiday week.
