Tampa, FL – Coastal areas including Tampa, Apollo Beach, and Westchase are under significant weather threats as Tropical Depression Four approaches. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for these regions, with residents urged to complete preparations and heed evacuation orders.

According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to bring winds of 50 mph in areas, and has the potential to escalate to tropical storm force. Localized wind damage, including broken tree limbs and scattered power outages, is anticipated. Residents are advised to secure outdoor objects and prepare for limited wind damage.

Heavy rainfall is forecasted, with 4-8 inches expected and isolated areas potentially receiving up to 12 inches. This significant rainfall may lead to flooding, particularly in low-lying areas. Flood preparations should be completed, and residents should be prepared for possible evacuations.

Storm surge remains a critical concern, with predictions of 2-4 feet above ground in surge-prone areas. The National Weather Service advises that life-threatening inundation is possible through Monday afternoon, urging those in vulnerable areas to seek higher ground immediately.

The situation is also somewhat favorable for tornadoes, with an increased threat from previous assessments. Residents should include tornado preparedness in their emergency plans and be ready to take shelter if warnings are issued.
