TAMPA, Fla. – After a hot, dry Saturday with highs near 94 degrees, Tampa Bay residents should prepare for a wet start to the workweek. Storm chances climb Monday afternoon, threatening evening commutes on I-275, I-4, and major side roads with heavy downpours.

According to the National Weather Service, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop by Monday afternoon, with rain chances peaking at 30 percent. By Tuesday and Wednesday, storm coverage grows to nearly 50 percent, bringing the potential for slick roads and localized flooding during rush hour.

Saturday and Sunday remain mostly dry but hot, with highs in the mid-90s and heat index values near 99. Light northeast breezes offer little relief, meaning outdoor workers and weekend eventgoers should stay hydrated and limit time in direct sun.

By Monday, clouds increase and moisture builds. Afternoon highs will hover around 92, but the real issue will be travel impacts during peak drive times. Commuters should allow extra time on major routes, avoid flooded intersections, and stay weather-aware as storms roll in.

The unsettled weather sticks around through midweek, keeping daily storm chances between 30 and 50 percent. While no widespread severe weather is expected, lightning and ponding on roadways remain concerns.

Five Day Forecast for Tampa, Florida:

  • Saturday: Sunny, high near 94, light northeast wind.

  • Tuesday: Scattered storms, high 93, storm chances 40 percent.
