Tallahassee, Fla. – North Florida’s fall weather is starting with a blast of heat as Tallahassee faces a run of 90-degree days this week. Drivers and outdoor workers should prepare for heat hazards along major corridors such as I-10 and U.S. 27 as afternoon highs push past 90° from Monday through Wednesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Monday will reach 90° under clear skies with a northeast wind of 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday climbs higher, with temperatures near 91°, while Wednesday could top out around 92°. Overnight lows will hover in the mid to upper 60s, offering little relief from the persistent warmth.
The dry stretch means fire danger may increase in rural Leon and Wakulla counties. Residents are urged to use caution with outdoor burning and to stay hydrated during afternoon hours. Those commuting or working outside should avoid prolonged sun exposure, especially between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Sunny skies dominate through Friday, when highs near 93° continue. A slight break may come Saturday with a 20% chance of showers, though most areas will remain hot and dry.
Fall heat will remain the story this week, with advisories possible if humidity drives heat indices higher.
