Melbourne, FL – Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected across Central Florida today as a cold front moves through the region. A high risk of rip currents at area beaches has prompted warnings for residents and visitors.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s rain is likely to increase during the afternoon, particularly along the I-4 corridor. Wind gusts up to 20 mph are possible, with temperatures peaking in the mid-70s. Those planning to head outdoors should bring rain gear and exercise caution near water. A high risk of life-threatening rip currents persists at east-central Florida beaches, making it unsafe to enter the surf.

Monday brings a shift in weather, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 76°F. Evening temperatures will dip to around 64°F under partly cloudy skies. Breezy conditions are expected to ease as the week progresses.

Looking ahead, Tuesday and Wednesday will feature clear skies and mild conditions, ideal for outdoor plans. By New Year’s Day, sunny weather and a high of 71°F are forecasted, providing perfect conditions for celebrations.

The National Weather Service urges beachgoers to avoid swimming where rip currents are active and to heed local advisories. Small craft operators should also remain cautious, as hazardous boating conditions are expected today with seas of up to 7 feet.
