Tampa Bay, Florida – A cold front moving through the Tampa Bay area tonight will bring a significant increase in rain chances, with severe weather risks including gusty winds, heavy rainfall, and small hail on Sunday. This stormy weather is expected to develop in the morning, especially for regions north of the I-4 corridor, and will spread into the interior and east of the region as the day progresses.
According to the National Weather Service, rain chances will increase between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Sunday, with areas like Clearwater and St. Petersburg seeing up to 60% chances of rain. Regions south of I-4 will experience slightly lower chances, around 30-40%. However, the potential for marginal severe storms increases as the storm system moves eastward across the state.
In addition to heavy rainfall, the storm could bring gusty winds and small hail, especially east of I-75, affecting areas like Lakeland and Plant City. Motorists are urged to stay cautious of possible flooding and reduced visibility on the roads.
Warnings remain in effect through Sunday evening, and the National Weather Service advises residents to stay updated on changing conditions. Further advisories may be issued depending on the severity of the storms.
