Miami, Fla. – Coastal flooding and a surge of thunderstorms could disrupt daily life in Miami on Monday, putting drivers and neighborhoods at risk. Roads near Biscayne Boulevard and I-95 may see standing water during the Monday evening rush as storms strengthen.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a Coastal Flood Statement remains in effect through late Monday afternoon, warning residents of saltwater flooding in low-lying areas. Scattered thunderstorms are expected from midday Monday through the evening, bringing heavy downpours, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning.

Northwest Miami-Dade neighborhoods, including Hialeah and Opa-locka, should prepare for slower commutes, while coastal zones near Miami Beach face higher flooding concerns. Afternoon highs will climb near 88 degrees, but the humid conditions will make it feel warmer.

Tuesday carries a 50 percent chance of additional storms, again centered on the afternoon commute. Stronger downpours could create ponding on roadways, with hazards extending into Broward County. By Wednesday, storm coverage increases sharply, with forecasters expecting widespread activity and an 80 percent chance of rain.

Residents should avoid driving through flooded intersections, secure outdoor items, and monitor local updates for potential advisories. Lightning remains a top hazard—move indoors quickly when skies darken.

The unsettled pattern continues through the week, signaling a wet start to fall for South Florida. Additional advisories are possible if tides or rainfall totals rise faster than expected.
