Orlando, Florida – Summer starts with a sizzle and a splash in Central Florida as Orlando braces for scattered storms and near-90°F heat through Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms will develop after 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, with sunny skies giving way to lightning and brief downpours. Highs will reach 89°F, and a similar pattern is expected Monday and Tuesday, with a 30–50% chance of afternoon storms each day.
Sunday’s storms will be fueled by a southwest breeze and rising humidity, making roads like I-4 slick and travel unpredictable during the afternoon and evening hours. Monday and Tuesday bring partly sunny mornings before clouds build and storm chances return. Daily highs hover near 89°F, with nighttime lows in the low 70s.
Showers could develop as early as 8 a.m. Monday and Tuesday, though the strongest storms remain likely after 2 p.m. Rainfall may total up to half an inch in some areas, potentially affecting evening commutes and outdoor plans.
Looking ahead to the rest of the week:
- Wednesday (June 4): Mostly sunny, high of 90°F, with isolated storms in the afternoon.
- Thursday (June 5): Storm chances return by 2 p.m. under partly cloudy skies, high near 93°F.
- Friday: Hotter and drier, with 91°F highs and fewer storms.
Smoke from Canadian wildfires may drift over the region early next week, reducing visibility and air quality—especially for sensitive groups.
Stay weather-aware as new alerts or advisories may be issued through midweek.
