Palm Beach, FL – Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms could develop this afternoon across portions of South Florida, particularly in Palm Beach County and the Lake Okeechobee region.

According to the National Weather Service Miami office, a marginal risk for severe storms remains in effect through Sunday evening, with the potential for damaging wind gusts, small hail, and heavy downpours. The strongest activity is expected during the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Residents in areas west of West Palm Beach and around Lake Okeechobee should remain weather-aware. Wind gusts may exceed 40 mph in the most intense cells, and while widespread impacts are not expected, the storms could create dangerous travel conditions and brief power outages.

Drivers are advised to avoid flooded roadways and secure outdoor items ahead of potential gusts. Boaters on the lake should monitor for rapidly changing conditions and seek shelter if storms approach.

Though March often brings isolated thunderstorms to South Florida, the potential for small hail makes today’s system slightly more intense than typical late-season storms.

Updates and alerts will be available through the National Weather Service and local emergency channels.
