Melbourne, FL – The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a High Surf Advisory and Small Craft Advisory for much of Florida’s east coast through the weekend as strong onshore (ENE) winds produce rough surf and dangerous marine conditions.

Waves of 5 to 8 feet—and up to 9 feet in the Gulf Stream—are expected, with minor beach and dune erosion possible, especially around high tide. The advisory covers beaches from Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet, including Brevard, Volusia, Indian River, and St. Lucie counties.

The NWS warns of a high risk of life-threatening rip currents along all east-central Florida beaches and urges residents and visitors to stay out of the water, obey posted warnings, and follow lifeguard instructions.

Mariners are also advised that winds of 15–25 knots and elevated seas will create hazardous boating conditions. Small craft should remain in port until conditions improve.

The weather will remain mostly dry, but isolated coastal showers are possible near the Treasure Coast tonight.
