Melbourne, FL – Dangerous surf and rip currents are expected to impact Florida’s east-central coast through Tuesday night, creating hazardous conditions for beachgoers and boaters. The National Weather Service warns of large breaking waves, reaching up to 8 feet, and powerful rip currents posing life-threatening risks along coastal areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the High Surf Advisory will remain in effect until 7 p.m. Monday, while the High Rip Current Risk continues through late Tuesday. Affected counties include Brevard, Volusia, Martin, Indian River, and Saint Lucie. Residents are urged to avoid swimming in rough surf and to follow safety measures at local beaches. Boaters should also exercise caution due to choppy seas and gusty onshore winds reaching 20 mph.

Monday’s weather will bring partly sunny skies with isolated showers, particularly after late morning. Highs are forecasted near 79 degrees inland, with coastal breezes enhancing rough surf conditions. Overnight temperatures will hover around 69 degrees.

Tuesday’s forecast includes showers and thunderstorms, primarily between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., with breezy east winds continuing. Highs will remain in the upper 70s, while evening conditions clear slightly.

Looking ahead, hazardous weather continues midweek with another chance for storms on Wednesday. Cooler, drier air is expected to return by Friday, offering a brief reprieve from unsettled conditions.

Beachgoers should heed all warnings from lifeguards and avoid swimming in dangerous waters. For the latest weather updates, visit the National Weather Service or check local advisories.
