Melbourne, FL – Melbourne residents are waking up to overcast skies and chilly temperatures as high rip current risks persist along local beaches. Officials warn beachgoers to avoid entering the ocean today, with conditions especially dangerous south of Cape Canaveral.
According to the National Weather Service, cloudy skies will remain throughout Thursday, with a high of 63°F and northwest winds at 10 mph. Rip currents pose a significant hazard at Treasure Coast beaches and southern Brevard County, with lifeguards urging visitors to check conditions before swimming.
The cooler weather will continue into the evening, with a low of 46°F under partly cloudy skies. On Friday, conditions improve as mostly sunny skies return, and the temperature climbs to a high of 67°F, offering relief from today’s gloom. However, the ocean will remain hazardous, and caution is advised along the coast.
Looking ahead, the weekend will see increasing clouds on Saturday with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Showers are likely on Sunday, along with a possible thunderstorm, as temperatures peak at 74°F. Monday brings cooler highs of 60°F, with lingering showers expected.
Beachgoers should prioritize safety and stay informed about rip current conditions, especially as high risks are expected to persist. Residents planning outdoor activities will find Friday’s sunny weather ideal, though windy conditions may prevail.
