Tampa, FL – Residents of Florida’s Nature Coast are bracing for another cold evening as freezing temperatures are forecast tonight. The National Weather Service warns that areas like Gainesville and Crystal River could see lows dipping to 29°F. Prepare now by covering plants, protecting pets, and ensuring outdoor pipes are insulated.
According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, tonight’s freezing conditions will affect much of the northern and inland areas. Gainesville is expected to drop to 32°F, while Brooksville could reach 35°F. Further south, Tampa will see a low of 41°F, with clearer skies providing no buffer against the chilly air.
Daytime highs on Wednesday will improve slightly, reaching 68°F in Tampa under sunny skies. Winds will remain light, offering little relief from the brisk conditions. The chill continues into Wednesday night, with temperatures falling to 48°F, though frost risks will decrease across central Florida.
Looking ahead, a warming trend will bring relief later this week. By Thursday, highs will climb to 73°F with lows near 57°F. This upward trend continues into the weekend, with Tampa expected to reach 74°F by Saturday. Despite the cold start to the week, conditions will remain dry, ensuring outdoor plans remain unaffected.
Residents should remain vigilant tonight, especially in areas north of Tampa, where frost and icy conditions are most likely.
