ORLANDO, Fla. – A surge of tropical moisture is drenching Central Florida as scattered thunderstorms continue through Friday, raising travel concerns along I-4 and around Orlando’s attractions. Flash flooding and lightning are possible during the afternoon commute, and drivers should use extra caution on wet roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, storms remain likely Friday and early Saturday before a major pattern shift brings drier, sunnier skies by Sunday. Rain chances drop sharply after midday Saturday as north winds usher in less humid air. Temperatures will rebound into the low 80s Sunday and Monday, making for ideal outdoor plans across Orange, Seminole, and Osceola Counties.

While Friday’s weather could disrupt theme park visits and outdoor events, residents can expect improving conditions for fall festivals and pumpkin patch outings by the weekend’s end. Gusts up to 20 mph may accompany stronger cells, so securing light decorations and outdoor furniture is advised.

Columbus Day looks nearly perfect, with bright skies, light breezes, and highs in the mid-80s. The dry spell continues into midweek, marking one of the most pleasant stretches of October so far. Area lawns and gardens will benefit from the early rainfall, followed by several days of steady sunshine—just in time for Halloween decorating.
