Tampa, FL β Drivers across west-central Florida could face dense fog early Sunday, with visibility dropping below three-quarters of a mile in parts of the Tampa Bay region through mid-morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, fog is likely to develop in the pre-dawn hours Sunday, with peak impacts between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. The greatest chances for dangerously reduced visibilityβup to 54%βcenter on Tampa and surrounding inland areas.
Commuters along I-75 and US-301 should plan for extra travel time and use caution, especially around sunrise. Visibility could also dip in parts of Port St. Lucie (18% chance) and Gainesville, while coastal zones near Cape Coral show a lower 9% risk.
Motorists are urged to slow down, use low beams, and avoid abrupt stops if they encounter fog. The patchy nature of the event means conditions may rapidly shift within short distances.
Fog may linger until 10 a.m. before clearing as the sun warms the surface. Additional fog events are possible early next week as humidity and overnight cooling persist.
