Tallahassee, Florida – Thunderstorms will continue to roll through North Florida each afternoon this week, bringing dangerous lightning, heavy downpours, and gusty winds through at least Friday.
According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, showers will start near the coast each morning before spreading inland. Storm chances remain at or above 50% daily across cities like Albany, Panama City, and Valdosta, with peak activity expected during the afternoon and evening hours.
Communities from Apalachicola to Tifton should prepare for possible street flooding, especially in low-lying areas with poor drainage. Lightning will accompany nearly every storm, creating a hazard for outdoor activities and travel. Winds up to 40 mph are possible with stronger cells.
Residents are urged to follow the rule: “When thunder roars, go indoors.” Avoid outdoor plans in the late afternoon, secure loose items, and ensure phones are charged in case of power outages. Drivers should slow down and use headlights during heavy rain.
Storm activity is expected to continue through the weekend. More advisories may follow if flooding or severe wind threats increase.
