MIAMI, Fla. – Breezy sunshine returns to South Florida today, but forecasters warn that isolated coastal flooding could cause minor issues along the beaches and low-lying roads through this afternoon. A Coastal Flood Statement remains in effect for coastal Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, where onshore winds are piling up water along the shoreline.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, tides are running higher than normal due to persistent northeast winds and seasonal ocean swells. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded coastal roadways, particularly near Biscayne Bay, A1A, and low-lying zones of Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Standing saltwater may affect some driveways and parking areas during high tide cycles.

Inland, the weather stays mostly dry and bright. Skies remain sunny through Wednesday with highs in the mid-80s and breezes gusting near 20 mph at times. By Thursday, an increase in clouds and a 30% chance of scattered showers moves in, mainly along the coast. The late-week pattern will bring more humidity but no major storm systems.

The NWS says conditions improve by Friday with mostly sunny skies and highs around 83°F. Residents planning outdoor events or beach visits should monitor surf advisories and avoid swimming near piers and jetties where currents remain strong.

Looking ahead, South Florida’s fall warmth continues into the weekend with mostly sunny skies and only isolated afternoon showers — a comfortable stretch after this brief round of coastal flooding concerns.
