Miami, Florida – A wetter-than-normal weather pattern is expected to take hold across southern Florida during the January 10–14 period, increasing the likelihood of frequent rain and localized travel disruptions across the region.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, southern Florida is favored to see above-normal precipitation during the 6–10 day window, while temperatures trend near to above seasonal averages. That setup supports repeated rounds of rain rather than a single widespread event, with moisture-rich systems moving through the region.

The highest rain coverage is expected across the Miami–Fort Lauderdale metro area, the Florida Keys, and interior portions of South Florida, including areas near Naples, Homestead, and West Palm Beach. Periods of moderate to occasionally heavy rain could lead to ponding on roadways, especially in urban and low-lying areas with poor drainage. Brief downpours may also reduce visibility during commutes.

Drivers should be prepared for slick roads along major corridors such as I-95, US-1, and Alligator Alley, particularly during morning and evening travel windows. Residents are encouraged to check drainage around homes, avoid driving through standing water, and allow extra time for travel during heavier rain.

While widespread flooding is not currently expected, the persistent wet pattern could lead to isolated issues if rain repeatedly moves over the same areas. Additional advisories may be issued as the January 10–14 timeframe approaches and confidence in rainfall timing and coverage increases.
