Tampa, FL – Rain chances are increasing across west-central Florida today, with spotty showers expected to develop and continue through Tuesday, bringing brief relief but little impact on ongoing drought conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay, easterly winds are pushing Atlantic moisture across the state, leading to higher rain chances over the next few days. Most areas north of Interstate 4 can expect lighter totals around a half inch or less, while locations to the south, including Sarasota and Fort Myers, could see up to 1 inch of rain by Tuesday night.

Across the Tampa Bay region, including Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Polk counties, showers will be scattered and intermittent, meaning not all areas will see consistent rainfall. Roads such as I-275 and I-75 may become briefly slick during passing showers, especially during peak travel times.

Residents should remain aware of changing conditions but understand that rainfall amounts will be uneven and may not significantly ease dry conditions. Outdoor plans may see occasional interruptions, but widespread heavy rain is not expected.

Rain chances taper after Tuesday, with dry conditions likely returning later in the week. Additional updates may follow if rainfall coverage increases.
