Tallahassee, Florida – Scorching summer heat and pop-up thunderstorms will return Tuesday across the Tallahassee region, with afternoon highs near 97° and a heat index soaring to 105°. Outdoor plans and travel could be disrupted as storms develop between 2 and 5 p.m., especially along major corridors like I-10 and U.S. Route 319.

According to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Tuesday will begin partly cloudy and calm, but isolated thunderstorms may spark after midday. Winds remain light, though conditions will become unstable by early afternoon. With little breeze and extreme humidity, heat-related illness is a concern — residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor work, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

By Wednesday, the heat intensifies further, peaking at 98°F, with a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms after 2 p.m. That risk grows into Thursday and Friday, with 80% chances of rain and thunderstorms expected each afternoon and evening. Roads may become slick during commutes, and localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Stay alert and have a backup plan for outdoor events through the week.
