Orlando, Florida – Heavy storms, dangerous winds, and flooding rains are expected across east central Florida through Monday night, prompting widespread weather alerts and urging residents to prepare for rapid changes in conditions. Strong storms may deliver gusts up to 50 mph, with a brief tornado possible near the coast.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, a Level 2 of 4 risk for excessive rainfall covers the region today, with rain totals ranging from 1 to 3 inches and isolated spots—like Stuart—potentially reaching 4.5 inches. A marginal Level 1 of 5 severe storm threat is also in effect, bringing a chance of small hail, deadly lightning, and isolated tornadoes, especially along the Atlantic coast.

Boaters from Flagler Beach to Jupiter Inlet are advised to exercise caution. Seas of 4 to 5 feet and south-southeast winds of 15 to 20 knots are creating rough conditions from the shoreline out to 60 nautical miles.

Cities including Orlando, Daytona Beach, Melbourne, and Vero Beach could see ponding on roads and flash flooding in low-lying areas. Drivers should avoid flooded roads and prepare for delays.

Storm activity is expected to taper by early Tuesday morning, but additional advisories could follow if the system lingers or intensifies. Stay alert through local updates and NOAA weather alerts.
