Miami, Florida – Rain and scattered thunderstorms could disrupt South Florida plans starting Friday afternoon, as a wet spring weekend shapes up across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a slight chance of showers begins Friday morning, with stronger storms likely after 2 p.m. Thunderstorms could bring localized flooding, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning through at least Sunday night. Drivers on I-95 and U.S. 1 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roadways, especially during evening commutes.

Saturday will bring another wave of storm activity beginning after 2 p.m., with a continued 30% chance of precipitation into the night. While rain chances decrease slightly by Sunday, on-and-off showers and thunderstorms remain possible, especially during the afternoon hours.

Highs through the weekend will hover in the low 80s, with humid conditions and winds shifting from southeast to south. Overnight lows will stay mild, around the mid-70s, offering little relief from the moisture-heavy air.

Residents should secure loose outdoor items, avoid parking under trees, and keep mobile devices charged in case of power disruptions. Boaters and beachgoers should remain alert for changing skies and possible lightning.
